Potomac State College of West Virginia University is an open admissions institution.  The principal qualifications for admission are graduation from an accredited high school or high school equivalent diploma through the General Education Development (GED) tests.

ACT and SAT Scores Information:

ACT and SAT scores are not required, but you are encouraged to submit the scores for one or both tests. The ACT and/or SAT scores are used to determine scholarship awards and for placement in math and English classes. If you do not submit ACT and/or SAT scores, you may be required to take a math and/or English Placement Test. Placement tests are offered at Potomac State Orientation (PSO) events. Click here for more information about PSOs; dates of upcoming PSO events; and to learn more about math and English placement testing. Click here to learn more about scholarship availability and eligibility requirements.

ACT and/or SAT scores are accepted in two of the following formats. If the score(s) appear on your official high school transcript, this format will be accepted. If you receive a mailed notice of your score(s) from the ACT and/or SAT college test companies, a copy of this format will be accepted.

When to Apply:

Students are admitted on a rolling basis beginning September 1.  First-time college applicants may apply any time after the beginning of their senior year of high school or after the applicant has successfully completed an equivalent diploma through the General Education Development (GED) tests.  All credentials in support of an application should be submitted to the Office of Enrollment Services at least 15 days prior to the beginning date of the semester for which the applicant is applying.
