Tourism and Hospitality (Culinary)-A.A.S

This program enables the student to obtain practical knowledge and skill sets used in the hospitality industry. With a strong emphasis on the culinary arts, the student will gain knife skills and the knowledge of classical techniques, meat and seafood fabrication, garde manager, baking and pastries, and several international cuisines through hands-on learning.

The student will also be able to learn sanitation practices, first aid, cost control, nutrition, menu planning, restaurant management, constructive writing of resumes, and the marketing of current trends in culinary and the hospitality industry.

Through a required externship, the student will gain real world experience in a workplace of their choice, giving them a well-rounded resume to start their career in the hospitality industry.

Along with the completion of this program, the student will obtain a five year certification through a nationally recognized, sanitation association (ServSafe) and will be first aid certified.

Career Opportunities: This two-year degree will provide the student the skills and knowledge needed in the culinary industry, to include upscale resorts, hotels, free-standing restaurants, catering companies, or the pursuit of being self-employed.

Requirements for Graduation

In order to earn an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Tourism and Hospitality a student must complete a minimum of 60 credit-hours of course work.
