*This scholarship is fully integrated with the scholarship program at West
Virginia University. If a student decides to transfer to WVU after leaving
Potomac State and meets the academic progress standards for this
scholarship, the student will be eligible to continue to receive this scholarship
at WVU at the current WVU value. The maximum award period for the Blue
and Gold Scholarships is eight semesters combined at either campus.

  • Metro residents - Residents of the following counties pay a metro fee:  Allegany County, MD; Garrett County, MD; Bedford County, PA; Fayette County, PA; Somerset County, PA; Frederick County, VA.
  • SAT scores reflect the sum of the Verbal/Critical Reading score plus the Math score.
  • We will use the highest composite ACT or SAT score submitted from one test date. At this time, writing/essay sections are not included as part of the total score being used for evaluation.
  • Please note: If a student is eligible for more than one scholarship from Potomac State College, the student will be awarded the scholarship with the highest dollar value. To retain scholarships for subsequent years, all scholars are required to maintain specific cumulative grade-point averages and to complete a minimum number of credits per year.
  • Renewal details for residents of other states scholarships can be found at SCHOLARSHIP RENEWAL CRITERIA FOR RESIDENTS OF OTHER STATES.
