WEST VIRGINIA RESIDENT SCHOLARSHIP RENEWAL GUIDELINES To retain scholarships for subsequent years, all scholars are required to maintain specific cumulative grade-point averages and to complete a minimum number of credits per year. The renewal criteria for all WVU    West Virginia Resident Scholarships are presented below. Presidential Scholarship Criteria to renew - A GPA of 3.00 after the freshman year, then 3.20 after the sophomore and junior years. Scholars must also complete at least 24 credit hours per year. Mountaineer Scholarship Criteria to renew - A GPA of 2.75 after the freshman year, then a 3.00 after the sophomore and junior years. Scholars must also complete at least 24 credit hours per year. Achievement Scholarship There is no renewal criteria as this is a one-time award. However, if a student moves to WVU, a GPA of 2.5 after the freshman or sophomore year is required in order to be awarded the scholarship for one year at WVU. Scholars must also complete at least 24 credit hours per year.
