PSC Golf “Blows” Away the Competition
On a very windy day at Youghiogheny Country Club, the Catamount golf team took down 4 conference opponents. With wind gusts over 40MPH, the conditions were again very much less than desirable. The Catamounts still posted a reasonable 323 on the day and had co medalist honors shared by Dereck Gimpel and Chris Bushey. The two golfers posted the only rounds under 80 at 79 each.
The host coach made an announcement at the start of the event that anything under 80 would be a great score and this proved to be true as the rain soaked and windy course proved to be a huge challenge for the golfers. With 8 of the 16 competitors shooting over 90, the Catamounts balanced scoring once again led to a big 53 shot victory. Rounding out the scoring for the Catamounts were Kyle Hudgins at 81 and Chris Pascoe at 84.
The next events for the Catamounts happens on Friday at The Rocky Gap Resort and again on Monday at Norvelt Golf Club. The team has 4 more total events until they begin the Region XX tournament where they look to repeat for their 4th straight year. The team moved to 18-0 in the Spring and are still holding strong at 3rd in the NJCAA DII National Poll.
