Head Coach Aaron Edwards and the Potomac State Golf Team has signed their first recruit of the 2011-2012 season with the commitment of Michael Toth to play for the Catamounts. Michael was a member of the North Marion High School golf program and hails from Katy, WV. He is going to be added to a golf program that is looking to continue its long tradition of success that has seen three straight NJCAA National tournament appearances in the last three years as well as two NJCAA DII First Team All Americans in the past two seasons. The current Catamount team is ranked 3rd in the Nation in the latest NJCAA Poll, and next year’s group is looking to only better that resume.

Michael was a 1st team All Conference player for the North Marion golf program. He earned this honor by claiming medalist honors 7 times throughout his senior season. Adding the list of accomplishments he was also named as the team captain for his senior season. “Michael is what every coach is looking for, a leader, solid golfer, good student, and a nice young man,” said Edwards. “We are excited to have him on the team and he will be joining a group that has a chance to take down some records here at PSC.”

Michael will be starting out as a General studies major as he starts his academic career at PSC. Coming out of high school Michael earned several academic accolades, and was a member of the honor role on several occasions. “Academics are an important part to the Potomac State experience,” said Edwards. The Golf team at PSC has also been named to the NJCAA All-Academic team for three straight years. This honor is awarded to teams that carry at least a 3.0 team GPA. “We take that honor very serious and it is a goal of ours each year.”

Michael is the son of Sheila Toth and Randy Toth.
