Another Nova Scotia Golfer Heading to Potomac State
Two of the best golfers to come through the Potomac State College golf program hailed from the small island Province of Novia Scotia Canada, and now a third is on the way. Ryan MacPherson of Egerton, Nova Scotia will be joining the Catamount golf program this fall. Ryan comes with an extensive golfing background and will bring a good tournament resume with him.
In 2008, Ryan was part of the Future Links Juvenile Atlantic Championship team. That same year he was named the Nova Canso Zone Player of the year and also won his club championship at Glen Lovat Golf Club. Ryan followed up a strong 2008 with an even bigger 2009 golfing season where he claimed titles in the Abercrombie Junior Invitational, and was crowned the Junior and Singles Match Play Champion at Glen Lovat Golf Club. That same year he anchored his High School golf team as their Captain and was the NSSAF High School Provincial Runner Up.
Academically he attended North Nova Education Centre and was a member of the honor role. At Potomac State he will be looking to continue his academic studies as he pursues a Business Degree. “Ryan will be a huge addition to our school and program,” says Aaron Edwards Head golf coach for the Catamounts. “We have had good success with the other players from his region of the world, and I think we will have another solid player in Ryan.”
Ryan will be added to a team that is coming off of their 4th straight team appearance at the NJCAA DII National Tournament and the highest ranking they have even had in school history. Returning to the team will be three golfers who anchored the team last season and Ryan will be added to that squad. Starting in August the team will look to defend their WPCC title for a 6th Straight year and the PCAA State Championship for a 5th straight year.
Ryan is the son of Kevin and Michele MacPherson.
