The Catamount golf team received a commitment from Luke Dempsey to play golf for them in the 2008-2009 season.  Luke a native of Bedford, Nova Scotia is the second golfer to give a commitment for the year and will be added to upwards of 6 returning players.  Luke comes from a very competitive golfing background and even competed against Brian Affleck, a current PSC player, while participating on several Canadian Jr. Tours.

Within these competitions, Luke grabbed such honors as the Top Atlantic Canadian player at the 2007 RCGA Boys Championships and he won the 2007 Nike Atlantic Series and representedLuke Dempsey Atlantic Canada at the Nike Canadian Championships in Uxbridge, Ontario where he went on to finish 5th.   Other accomplishments include representing Nova Scotia at the Canadian Junior Boys Championships in 2006 and 2007 and being a 3 year starter at Charles P. Allen High School, where he led them to two regional championships and two runners up finishes at the provincial level.  Topping off the accomplishments, Luke was named the 2006 Nova Scotia Juvenile Champion, the 2006 Nova Scotia High School (NSSAF) runner-up, and had a win at the 2007 Ashburn Invitational where he won on the third playoff hole after shooting 68 (-4).

Off the course Luke is equally impressive and carried a high A average and was named to his schools Honor Roll throughout his high school career.  Luke is also currently ranked 18th in a graduating class of 367 students.

Luke will be pursuing an Engineering Degree while at Potomac State College and will look to further his education and golfing career after his time is spent at PSC.  "Luke is a rare combination of an excellent student and great athlete," said Coach Edwards.  "With him on the team, we not only help ourselves on the course, but his hard work off the course will also help the team succeed."

Luke is the son of Ian and Ruth Dempsey.
