Affleck Leads Nationally Ranked Catamounts to Victory

The Potomac State College golf team started their season on Tuesday March 17th at Sea Trail Golf course in Sunset Beach, NC.  The team played an 18 hole event against several NCAA schools ranging from DI to DIII.  The Catamounts posted a solid 309 on their way to victory, which was then followed by the host school McDaniel College at 311, and New York University at 314.  In total, the Catamounts defeated 6 schools and added to their record for the overall season.

Brian Affleck led the team with a solid 72 (+1), and took home medalist honors for the event.  "The course played tough," said Coach Aaron Edwards.  "It was wet from the rains the night before, and the winds were at a constant 20-30 MPH.  The score we posted was a bit higher than normal, but for early in the season and in those conditions, we did what we had to do to win."  Affleck received assistance in leading the Catamounts to victory from Brendan Dillion (78), Matt Pellillo (79), and Joe Zuravnsky (80).

The third ranked Catamounts will start their NJCAA play in a few weeks as they look to repeat as Region XX champions and return to the NJCAA National Tournament.
