Potomac State Cruises to Victory

Apollo, PA--The Catamountýs golf team again had a solid day on the links and received balanced scoring from a different set of golfers while playing their second tournament of the year at the Link at Spring Church in Apollo, PA.  On the day the team was led by Brian Affleck who carded a one over par round of 73.  Brian took individual medalist honors for the first time this year on his was to helping the Catamounts secure the second straight tournament victory at the Bob Darby Invitational.  Following Affleck was Travis Kidwell with a 75, Mike Stenger with a 78, and Robbie Williams with an 80.  These four teammates took home the top for spots in the event as the team posted a 306 on the day.

Finishing second was Penn State New Kensington (member of the USCAA DII) who posted a solid 336. They were led by Bubby Brezican who shot an 81.  In third was Butler County Community College with a 339.  The tournament was rounded out with Penn State Shenango.

The Catamounts moved to 7-0 in NJCAA competition, and added two victories against four year institutions.  The team will tee it up next at the NCAA DII Senator Shootout at The Raven.  "The team will face stiff competition and will need to play well to come out victorious.  We have a very talented group of golfers, but anytime you play 4 year schools, there is a comfort level they have with each other, and that makes it that much harder to compete," said Coach Edwards.  "We are off to a hot start, and will look to continue that trend this weekend."
