Baseball: Maiers goes deep as Catamounts split pair at Cecil

North East, MD- Matt Maiers hit a pair of home runs and Andrew Kowalo added another in a 5-3 win over Cecil College in the second game of Sunday’s twin bill.

Cecil won game one, 6-2 behind a strong mound effort from Juan Bautista and a three run home run from Peter Pena.

Sam Vincenzo took the loss for PSC, despite striking out four in just four innings of work.

Daniel Kerwin had a two-run double for the Catamounts.

In game two, Maiers’ two-run homer in the fifth inning gave the Catamounts a 4-3 lead.  His second home run in the seventh provided an insurance run. 

Dalton Westfall picked up the win with a complete game effort.  The sophomore struck out three and scattered eight hits to improve to 3-1.

Jack Ricker got PSC on the board with an RBI double in the second inning.

Potomac State, now 15-6, will see Cecil gain on Thursday for a twin bill at Golden Park starting at 1PM.  The Catamounts remain at home on Friday with a pair of games with CCAC-South at 1PM.
