Baseball: Catamounts use big first inning to roll past Chesapeake

WYE MILLS, MD — Korey Foltz tripled and singled and Fraser Brown hit a pair of doubles and scored three times as Potomac State downed Chesapeake 12-1 on Wednesday.

The Catamounts (12-5) scored five runs in the first inning and led 11-1 through four innings. They finished with nine hits and drew seven bases on balls from three Chesapeake pitchers.

Evan Mitchell (5-0) fired a two-hitter, walked three and struck out four in a complete-game win.

Andrew Kowalo singled twice, Matt Jeffery doubled and knocked in three runs and Russell Schwertfeger tripled for the Catamounts.

Potomac State, which has won nine of its last 11, travels to Shenandoah University for a noon doubleheader on Saturday in Winchester, VA. Then on Sunday PSC travels to North East, MD for a 1PM twin bill with Cecil College.
