Baseball: Mitchell delivers three-hit shutout as PSC downs Hagerstown.

Hagerstown, MD- Evan Mitchell pitched a complete game three-hitter with eight strikeouts to lead Potomac State past Hagerstown Community College 7-0 on Wednesday.

Mitchell retired 15 of the final 16 hitters to complete the effort.

Hagerstown’s Alex Cuas gave up two earned runs and struck out seven in seven innings as he and Mitchell matched scoreless innings into the sixth.

In the sixth, PSC’s Malik Brown reached on an error, followed by a bloop double from Korey Foltz. One out later Matt Jeffery delivered a single that scored both runs.

The Catamounts added a run in the seventh, when Malik Brown’s two out infield hit scored pinch-runner Teddie Sova.

PSC tacked on three insurance runs in the eighth highlighted by a run producing single from Daniel Kerwin and a two-run single from DeJhard Kimbrough.

In the ninth Andrew Kowalo’s sacrifice fly scored Foltz, who had tripled to make the score 7-0.

The Catamounts improves to 9-4.

Hunter Szaflarski, Ben Pittman and Christian Rosario each had a hit for HCC, who are now 7-4.

Potomac State will host a four-game series this weekend at Golden Park when they face off with Mercyhurst NE for a doubleheader on both Saturday (1PM) and Sunday (12PM).
