Baseball: Potomac State sweeps pair from Lakeland

Keyser, WV- Potomac State used some quality starts from a pair of freshman and some long distance hitting to sweep a pair of games from visiting Lakeland Community College Wednesday afternoon at Golden Park.

In the opener Andrew Kowalo connected for his fourth home run of the season, a three-run shot to lead the Catamounts to an 8-1 win. 

Malik Brown drilled a two-run triple and PSC got RBI’s from Matt Maiers, Daniel Kerwin and Russell Schwertfeger to cruise to the win.

Freshman Chris Schleuss went six innings, striking out five to pick up the win. 

In game two, PSC got long balls from both Maiers and Fraser Brown to ease to a 10-0 five inning win.

Brown drove in five runs with his homer run and a double.

Kowalo drove in three runs including the game-ender in the fifth.

Freshman Zach Smith worked all five innings to pick up  his first win of the season.

Potomac State improves to 28-8, and will host three games at home this weekend.

On Saturday, CCBC-Catonsville travels to Golden Park for a pair of games and then on Sunday PSC wraps up the regular season with a single game with Hagerstown Community College.
