Baseball: Catamounts use long ball to down Allegany 11-1

Cumberland, MD- Potomac State hits three home runs as they rolled over Allegany College 11-1 Thursday afternoon at the Allegany County Fairgrounds.

Russell Schwertfeger, David Delawder and Seth Roadcap each homered for the Catamounts, who out hit ACM 11-5.

Kris Van Camp worked 7 1/3 innings allowing just five hits to pick up the win.  The sophomore struck out four and allowed just one run.

Allegany jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the third on an RBI single from Miguel Torres that scored Colton Civic who had singled earlier in the inning.

Potomac State took the lead in the bottom half of the inning when Justin Palmer led off the inning with a single and then scored on Schwertfeger’s fourth home run of the season.

The Catamounts, 21-14, added a run in the sixth inning on a solo home run from Delawder.

Potomac State blew the game open in the seventh inning with six runs.

Roadcap led off the inning with his own solo home run.

PSC took advantage of three errors in the inning to pad the lead.  Delawder’s two run base hit and Joe LaRocca’s RBI highlighted the big inning.

Tyler Skidmore’s two run single in the bottom of the eighth ended the game due to the mercy-rule.

PSC is back on the road on Sunday, when they travel to Hagerstown Community College.
