Baseball: Potomac State sweep twin bill over St. Clair County

Keyser, WV- Potomac State won a pair of games on Friday afternoon as they swept a double-header over St. Clair County by scores of 10-6 and 12-3.

Justin Palmer racked up five hits, scored four runs and drove in three more to lead the Catamounts sweep.

In game one, Russell Schwertfeger and DeJhard Kimbrough drove in two runs apiece and five others drove in a run each as PSC outhit St. Clair 10-7.

Brandon Gochenour worked five innings, striking out six to pick up the win and raise his record to 2-1.  Jared Rowley worked the final two innings for PSC.

PSC jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning highlighted by a run scoring double by Matt Jeffery.

In game two it was a six-run third inning that led the Catamounts to the 12-3 win.

Palmer and Tyler Skidmore each drove in three runs and Brock Bonadio drove in two as the Catamounts banged out eleven hits.

Connor Christner pitched five innings and struck out five to pick up the win.  Marcel Barrett worked the sixth and seventh inning of scoreless baseball striking out six Skipper’s hitters.

The Catamounts, (7-9) will conclude the weekend series with St. Clair County for a pair of games on Saturday at Golden Park starting at noon.
