Baseball: Catamounts throttle Garrett College 12-3

Keyser, WV- Bryce Crawford hit three doubles and Brock Bonadio had four hits to lead Potomac State to a 12-3 win over Garrett College Wednesday afternoon at Golden Park.

Crawford went 3-4 on the day, with 3RBI’s and three runs scored. 

Potomac State scored five runs in the bottom of the second on a sacrifice fly from MIcthell Henshaw and three consecutive hits from Crawford, Bonadio and Alex Taylor.

Crawford’s sacrifice fly in the third extended the lead to 6-0 and an RBI single from Brandon Gochenour in the fourth inning made it 7-0.

Garrett punched through for a run in the top of the fifth off of PSC starter Andrue Hughart on an RBI groundout from Ryan Kolich.

PSC answered back in the bottom of the frame to go up 8-1 when Bonadio singled, stole second and came around to score on Taylor’s single

A two-run home run from Garrett’s Sean Edison closed the gap to 8-3 in the sixth inning. 

Another RBI from Taylor, that scored Crawford in the seventh inning made the score 9-3.

Potomac State added three more runs in the eighth on four straight hits from Ryan Roell, Henshaw, Crawford and Bonadio.

Hughart worked six innings for Potomac State to earn the win improving his record to 4-2.  The right-hander struck out seven and walked just one while scattering nine hits.

Potomac State, 10-9, will play at home this weekend with a pair of games against Shenandoah University on Saturday and a twin bill with Cecil College on Sunday.
