Baseball: Monroe’s Mailoux stops Catamounts

KEYSER, W.Va. — Oliver Mailoux fired a four-hitter, walking none and striking out 11, to lift Monroe, New York, past Potomac State Saturday at Golden Park.

Mailoux, who struck out the side in the first inning, fanned at least one batter in six of the seven innings.

Meanwhile, Monroe had 11 hits and had nine batters hit safely. Michael Crispino doubled   and singled and Isaiah   Torres had two singles.

Monroe (14-17) took a 2-0 lead in the fourth on an RBI double by Carlos Torres and an infield error.

Potomac State cut it to 2-1 in the bottom of the inning when Dom Peroni doubled and, after Brandon Gochenour reached on an error, scored on Joe LaRocca’s sacrifice fly.

Crispino doubled and scored on a single by Isaiah Torres in the Monroe seventh.

Potomac State (23-11) hosts Southern Maryland today at noon.
