Baseball: Catamounts big inning leads to comeback win over Chesapeake

KEYSER, W.Va. — Potomac State entered the home half of the seventh inning trailing Chesapeake College 6-4.

When the inning was over, the Catamounts had scored six runs for a 10-6 lead on its way to a 12-6 victory — their ninth straight — Sunday afternoon at Golden Park.

The win improves the Catamounts to 18-9 overall.

Brock Bonadio, Alex Taylor and Mitchell Henshaw each had three of the Catamounts 12 hits and Bonadio and Taylor combine for seven RBIs with Bonadio driving home four runs. Henshaw had three doubles.

Nick Gardner led Chesapeake with three hits including a double and Kyle Searfoss homered and had three RBIs.

Chesapeake led 2-0 after two, 5-1 after three, 5-3 after four and 5-4 going into the seventh inning. Potomac State added two insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.

The Catamounts will host Lakeland Community College on Tuesday for a doubleheader with the first game scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
