Baseball: Musgrove’s walk off winner salvages Potomac State’s opening weekend

Florence, SC- After dropping the first two games of the 2017 season on Saturday, Potomac State rebounded for a 7-6 walk off win on Sunday over USC Lancaster.
Trailing 6-5 heading into the bottom of the last inning, PSC took advantage of two Lancer errors to put the tying and winning runs on base. Back to back clutch hits from Mitchell Henshaw and Zach Musgrove first tied and then won the game for the Catamounts.
Training 2-0 in the first inning, PSC answered with three runs on a sacrifice fly from Joe Larocca and a two-run single from Henshaw.
Jeff Wong picked up the win in relief. The right-hander pitched three solid innings allowing just one hit and one unearned run.
Michael Livingston started for PSC and struck out four in 2 2/3 innings of work.
Henshaw finished with three runs batted in, while Alex Taylor had two single and a double.
On Saturday, Potomac State dropped a one-run game to Patrick Henry Community College in the season opener.
Despite outhitting the Patriots 5-2, the Catamounts were unable to push across a tying run in the final five innings falling 3-2.
Tanner Skidmore took the loss for PSC in his first start. The freshman struck out three and allowed just two hits in 3 2/3 innings of work.
In game two Potomac State ran into a pair of Florence Darlington Tech pitchers in Tanner Myatt and Tradd James that combined for 10 strikeouts as the Stingers roiled to a 10-win.
Potomac State, (1-2) will travel back to Florence, SC this weekend for three more games. On Saturday PSC will face Walters State Community College at 11:00 am and Florence Darlington Tech at 1:30pm.
On Sunday the Catamounts will face Cecil College for a single game at 10:30am.
