Baseball: Catamounts drop a pair in South Carolina

FLORENCE, S.C. — The Potomac State bats took a day off Saturday, as the Catamounts were limited to three hits in losses to Walters State and Florence Darlington Tech.
Sean Gardner tossed a complete-game three-hitter, walked only one and struck out 10 in leading Walters State, Tennessee, to a 5-1 win.
Kyle Oullette went 3 for 3 with a two-run home run, Payton Marshall doubled and singled and Dylan Harris tripled for Walters State (15-2), which had seven hits.
Brandon Gochenour doubled and Brock Bonadio had an RBI single for Potomac State. Andrue Hughart struck out five and allowed two earned runs in five innings.
Mark Leonard and Josh Price combined on a three-hit shutout and eight strikeouts in Darlington Tech’s 6-0 victory.
Leonard allowed three hits and fanned six in five innings for the win. Conner Pett had a double and an RBI, Keshaun Samuel added two singles, two runs and an RBI and Harrison Hawkins two singles and two RBIs for Darlington Tech (7-4).
Joe LaRocca and Alex Taylor doubled for Potomac State. Tanner Skidmore allowed six hits and five runs, one earned, over five innings.
The Catamounts (1-4) play Cecil this morning at 10:30.
