Baseball: Potomac State sweeps a pair from Eastern Gateway

Zach Musgrove’s three-run home run in the fourth inning erased a 2-0 deficit as Potomac State downed Eastern Gateway Community College 12-2 to complete the sweep at Golden Park on Sunday.

Eastern Gateway Community College got things moving in the first inning, when Damion Coleman doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

Eastern Gateway jumped out to a 2-0 lead when the Gators scored an unearned run in the second.

Potomac State locked the game away with a 9-run sixth inning. Austin Chavis, Seth Wright, Sebastian Williamson, Mitchell Henshaw, and Musgrove each drove in runs during the inning to close the game out.

Dakota Bingham was solid on the hill for Eastern Gateway Community College. He allowed two hits and three runs over four innings, striking out six.

Picking up the win for PSC was Colton Webb who struck out six.  Josh Zeboskey pitched the final 2 1/3 to pick up the save.

Musgrove led Potomac State going 3-3 with four RBI’s.

Jake Rudzik went 2-for-3 for Eastern Gateway.

In the opener Tanner Skidmore struck out 12 Gator hitters to pick up the complete game win. He allowed six hits and three runs over five innings, to even his record at 1-1.

Potomac State launched two home runs on the day. Dominic Peroni had a 3-run long ball in the second inning, while Henshaw had a four bagger earlier in the inning as PSC sent 13 hitters to the plate in the 9-run inning.

Williamson, Joe Dodrill and Alex Taylor each had two hits for the Catamounts who banged out a total of 19 hits on the day.

Potomac State, 6-4 is scheduled to travel to Glenville State College for a pair of games on Thursday and then hosting a 4-game set with Corning Community College on the weekend.
