Baseball: Catamounts open Region XX Tournament on Thursday

Bel Air, MD- The Potomac State baseball team will open the 2018 NJCAA Division 1 Baseball Tournament on Thursday at Harford Community College.  The Catamounts, 35-9 will face the defending champions and host team Harford Community College at 1PM.  The game can be viewed live courtesy of the Harford Athletic Website.

Since 2000, Potomac State has won 12 Region XX Baseball Championships, but last won in 2015 with Harford winning four of the last six years including the last two seasons.

Harford comes into the tournament with a 44-12 season and went 31-3 at home this season.  The Owls have hit 103 home runs in 2018 which is second in all of NJCAA Division 1 baseball.  Potomac State has banged out 49 homers this season and comes into the tourney with a team batting average of .359 with is 8th best in the NJCAA.

Later in the day the #1 seed and favorite to win the tournament Chesapeake College will match up with Hagerstown Community College.  The Skipjacks went an impressive 43-6 on the year and are hitting .362 as a team which is good enough for 7th in the country. 

Hagerstown arrives at the tourney with a 26-22 record and last won the tourney in 2008.
