Baseball: Musgrove, Keener power Potomac State to sweep

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Zach Musgrove drove in five runs in the opener and Justice Keener had four RBIs in the nitecap as Potomac State swept a doubleheader from the Shenandoah University jayvees, 11-9 and 10-0, on Saturday.

Musgrove ripped a three-run home run in the second inning, when the Catamounts scored six runs to respond to a nine-run frame from Shenandoah JV in the top half. Musgrove smacked an RBI single in a two-run first inning and also drew a bases-loaded walk in the third to tie it 9-9.

Potomac State (15-4) scored its final two runs in the sixth, with Austin Chavis hitting a sacrifice fly to plate Mitchell Henshaw with the go-ahead run and Austin Martin scoring on a balk two batters later.

Chavis also had a double and two RBIs. Juwuan Weaver hit a triple and a single and Ryan Roell singled twice and drove in a run.

Josh Zeboskey pitched 5 2/3 innings of relief, striking out nine.

In the second game, Potomac State used four-run innings in the second and third innings to jump ahead to a comfortable win.

Keener ripped a bases-loaded double to drive in three runs in the second. He also hit a single.

Sebastian Williamson also finished with a double and a single. Peter Costigan tripled, and Weaver and Seth Wright each hit a double for the 11-hit Catamounts.

Potomac State hosts Cecil today for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
