Catamounts win Region XX opener

Wye Mills, MD- Sophomore Paul Chenoweth struck out ten hitters as Potomac State downed Anne Arundel Community College 7-2 in the opening game of the Region XX Tournament held at Chesapeake Community College.

Chenoweth threw 8 1/3 innings and allowed just five hits as he left Pioneer hitters off balance all day.

"You really can't pitch better than Paul did today," said Head Coach Doug Little.  "It was a gutsy effort; he really battled and got us deep into the game to save our bullpen."

Cody Dalton led the Potomac State offense with a single, double and triple and three runs scored.

Scott Davis added two hits and drove in two, while Dominick Hayes drove in two runs with a second inning single.

The win sets up a Saturday showdown with the number one seed Hagerstown Community College at 11am.  HCC breezed through their opening game against Chesapeake Community College in an 11-1 rout.
