Potomac Stateýs Fike drafted by Phillies
PSC Alum Garcia drafted in the 24th round by Reds.

Keyser, WV- Potomac State College baseball sophomore left-handed pitcher Nathan Fike was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 47th round of the Major League Baseball draft Friday. He was the 1417th player selected and marks the eighteenth player drafted in the last thirteen seasons at Potomac State College.
Fike closed the 2008 season with a record of 7-1, leading all Potomac State pitchers, and a paltry 1.72 earned run average. The Uniontown, PA native struck out 70 hitters while walking just 18 in 57 2/3 innings of work. Opposing hitters hit just .192 against the hard throwing lefty.
Former Catamount right-handed pitcher Enrique Garcia, who now pitches for the University of Miami, (Fla) was selected as the 719th pick in the 24th round by the Cincinnati Reds. He is 14-6 in two seasons with the Hurricanes while compiling a 4.26 earned run average. Thus far in 2008, he is 6-2 with a 4.80 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 75 innings.
Garcia, who was undrafted out of Choptican High School, (MD), was selected after his freshman season at Potomac State in the 17th round by the Chicago White Sox. Garcia returned for his sophomore season and was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 20th round. After transferring to pitch for the Hurricanes he was drafted last season by the Chicago Cubs in the 32nd round.
