Catamounts throttle Dundalk , 8-2
Dundalk , MD-- Potomac State used seven pitchers who combined to allow only three Dundalk hits in a 8-2 victory on Wednesday. Starter Pat Adkins raised his record to 3-0 with two shutout innings of work and was relieved by Dale Kestner, Ryan Deatrick, Joe Stupka, Mike Armstrong, T.M. Frye and Ryan Rowe.
ýIt was a chance for our pitchers to get some work. We have some important games coming soon and we are going to need these guys to be sharpý, said Head Coach Doug Little. ýThey all pitched very well, and we learned some things about these guys.ý
Catamount pitchers allowed just three hits in nine innings of work, struck out eight and received some stellar defense from the defense to raise PSCýs record to 20-11.
PSC got on the board in the second on a RBI single by Brett Sellers that scored Ryan Anderson who reached base after being hit by a pitch.
In the 6th inning Justin Dailey led off the inning with a single to left field. After one out, Bill Wooten laced a double to left scoring Dailey. One out later Eric Saffellýs base hit up the middle scored Wooten. PSC added single runs in the 7th and 8th innings on Wootenýs RBI single and Sellersý sacrifice fly.
In the 9th inning Brent Lockhart hit a one out single and came home on Wootenýs RBI triple. J.T. Osburn was then hit by a pitch, moved to second on a wild pitch that scored Wooten. Saffell followed with his third straight base hit scoring Osburn.
Wooten finished the day 3-5 with a single, double, triple and 3 RBI. Saffell and Sellers both added two runs batted in.
PSC will travel to Garrett College for a twin bill this Saturday. Game time is 1pm .
