PSC Baseball inks four recruits for 2006.

 

The Potomac State Baseball team and Head Coach Doug Little announced the signing of four more players that intend to continue their academic and baseball careers next year for the Catamounts.

 

ýWe are extremely excited about adding this group of players to the two we have already signed,ý says Little.  ýGood players are hard to find, but we feel these are quality players that can help us win games.ý

 

The group consists of two players from West Virginia, one from New Jersey and one from Pennsylvania.  A complete alphabetical list of the four signees follows along with their credentials and comments from Little.

 

Derek Bowen ( Liberty HS) INF, 6-1, 180

Four year starter at Liberty High Schoolý2004 Big Ten Conference Player of the YearýAll-Conference 3 yearsýAll-Harrison County 3 yearsý1st team All State 2004ýhit .483 as a junior with 43 rbiýplayed for Coach Pete Iquintoýson of Tim and Lisa Bowenýhometown is Salem, WV.

Little on Bowen: ýDerek has been a good player since he was a freshman.  Has great actions and is one of the better hitters in the state.  He is a hard working humble young man.ý

 

Gabe Cyrus (Poca HS) INF, 5-10, 160

Four year starter at Poca High Schoolý2002 Putnam County Rookie of the yearý2nd team All State 2004ýhit .391 as a juniorýhit .421 as a sophomoreýplayed for Coach P.E. McClanahanýson of Odell and Tanya Cyrusýhometown is Poca, WV.

Little on Cyrus: ýGabe is a hard-nosed middle infielder.  Really fits the mold of what we are looking for in a player.ý

 

Chris Rollins ( Winslow Township HS) RHP/3B, 6-4, 190

Little on Rollins: ýChris is big, strong and very talented.  Highly recruited across the country, will be a two-way player for us; has a chance to be one of the best players weýve ever had.ý

 

Matt White ( State College Area HS) C, 6-0, 190

Three year letterman at State College Area High Schoolýplayed for Coach Bill Tusseyýson of Mike and Marianne Whiteýhometown is State College, PA

Little on White: ýMatt has outstanding skills behind the plate and works very hard.  He could be an immediate impact player for us next year.ý
