Jacke Healey wins 2008 Rawlings Big Stick Award

 

Healey named Rawlings Big Stick award winner.

 

COLORADO SPRINGS - Rawlings, in conjunction with the NJCAA, honors annually the hitter that posts the highest regular season batting average in each of the NJCAA Division I Districts.

Potomac State College sophomore shortstop Jacke Healey was named theJacke Healey 2008 Eastern District Rawlings Big Stick winner.  The Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania native is the third Potomac State hitter to take home this award.  In 2004 Jeff Miller won the award and in 2005 J.T. Osburn took home the hardware.

Healey also earned second team NJCAA All-American honors after leading Potomac State in home runs (11), runs scored (52) and slugging percentage (.823). He finished the season hitting .456 with a team-high 28 extra-base hits. He slugged .823, owned a .526 on-base percentage and stole 9 of 11 bases. He ranked second on the team with a career-best 67 hits while starting all 45 games at shortstop. He fielded .935 with 54 putouts and 118 assists.

Healey will continue his baseball career next season at Youngstown State University for Head Coach Rich Pasquale.  Healey is spending his summer playing in the Virginia Valley League for the WAYNESBORO GENERALS.
