Baseball: Catamounts sweep Wesleyan; at Shenandoah today for 5PM DH

Buckhannon, WV- Potomac State used a big inning in each game of a doubleheader at West Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday by scores of 8-1 and 8-4 to complete the sweep and raise their record to 24-9.

In the opener leading just 3-1 in the sixth inning, PSC pushed across five runs en route to an 8-1 win.

Nate Antone got the Catamounts on the board in the third inning when he lofted a bases loaded double that scored all three runners. Mike Virbickis and Jake Ringold' singles along with Alan Filauro's walk preceded Antone's double.

In the sixth inning Jason Driver and Ryan Bennett provided RBI's and PSC benefitted from a Wesleyan error to complete the big inning.

Brendan Miller picked up his fourth win of the season as the freshman struck out four in four and a third innings pitched.

In the nightcap a six-run third inning propelled the Catamounts to a 8-4 win and a sweep over the Bobcats.

In that inning Potomac State had six straight hits to open the inning: Bennett-double, Ringold-double, Antone-single, Zach Markel-single, Dave McNeill-single, and Driver-double. In all PSc had nine hits in the inning.

Jordan Bray picked up the win with five innings of work, striking out four.

Potomac State is back in action on Thursday for a 5PM doubleheader at Shenandoah University.

The Catamounts will be at Golden Park on Saturday and Sunday for doubleheaders with Catonsville and Cecil. Both DH's begin at 1PM.
