Potomac State has five named to All Region XX Baseball teams.

Arnold, MD- Potomac State had five players listed on the 2011 All Region XX Division 1 Baseball teams that were announced today by the NJCAA Region XX athletic directors.

 

Nate Antone, from Pittsburgh, PA was Potomac State's leading vote getter as the sophomore is 17th in the country in hitting with a .445 batting average. He has 53 hits on the year, with 20 doubles, three triples, three home runs and 44 runs batted in.

 

Ryan Bennett was also named to the first team as the 2nd baseman. Bennett, a Martinsburg, WV native is hitting at a .374 clip with 15 doubles, two triples and 33 runs scored.

 

Catamount pitcher Andy Smithmyer was also named to the first team. This marks the second straight season that the Altoona, PA native has been named to the first team. The sophomore has compiled a 9-2 record on the season, with 71 strikeouts in 53 innings pitched.

 

Also named to the second team were Potomac State sophomore's Jason Driver and Jake Ringold. Driver, from Sykesville, MD hit .331 in the regular season with 33 runs batted in and three homeruns. Ringold had 36 runs scored as the Mt. Airy, MD native hit at a .336 clip with 15 RBI's. Both Driver and Ringold were second team members last season as well.

 

Harford Community College led the way with nine players named to this year's team. Six on the first team and three to the second team.
