Potomac State Falls to Nation’s Top Team

Grand Junction, CO- The Catamounts just didn’t have enough juice to knock off the top-ranked team in the nation on Memorial Day. Potomac State lost to Central Arizona College 12-2 in the Junior College World Series.

This is the Catamounts’ first loss in the tournament. In their first game, Potomac State defeated Jefferson College 8-5.

Pat Bankemper picked up the loss in this game and gave up four earned runs in seven innings pitched. Central Arizona’s Zach Dando picked up the win after pitching six innings and gave up only one earned run and struck out seven.

The Vaqueros were paced on offense by center fielder Keenyn Walker and shortstop Jorge Flores. Walker went 4-for-5 with four RBIs and Flores went 3-for-4 with five RBIs and scored two runs.

Up next for Potomac State is an afternoon game against Seward College. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m.
