Potomac State Baseball rolls past CCAC-South for sweep

Keyser, WV- Dave McNeill drove in four runs in game one and Jason Driver did the same in game two as Potomac State swept a doubleheader from CCAC-South Saturday afternoon at Golden Park by scores of 8-2 and 14-1.
Potomac State, (12-5) outhit the Tigers 21-6 on the day and allowed just three unearned runs to pick up the sweep.
Andy Smithmyer picked up the win in game one as the sophomore struck out five in a pre-determined three innings of work. Smithmyer allowed just one hit to raise his record to 4-1. Cody Ellsworth and Brendan Miller each worked two innings of shutout relief to close out the game.
McNeill led the way with three singles; Jake Ringold added a single, double and three runs scored. Nate Antone drove in two and Driver drove in one.
In game two Potomac State jumped out with five runs in the first inning highlighted by Will Brzozowski’s two run single. Brzozowski finished the game 2-2.
Driver paced the Catamount attack with single, double and an RBI hit by pitch. Ringold added two RBI’s on a third inning triple.
Potomac State’s doubleheader scheduled for Sunday at CCBC-Catonsville has been postponed due to impending weather in the area and will be rescheduled.
The Catamounts will next face off with Region XX foe Hagerstown Community College on Wednesday for a single game at 2PM at HCC.
