Potomac State Baseball pounds Garrett 16-0

Keyser, WV-Potomac State banged out 15 hits in route to a 16-0 win over Garrett College Sunday afternoon at Golden Park.

Mike Virbickis lead the way for the Catamounts with a double, two singles, and four runs batted in. Jason Driver, Nate Antone, Ben Miller, J.K. Filauro and Will Brzozowski each added two hits apiece for PSC.

Brendan Miller picked up the win for Potomac State. The freshman worked six innings, allowed just two hits, and struck out eight to raise his record to 2-1.

“I’m really proud of the way Brendan pitched today,” said Head Coach Doug Little. “He has a chance to be a really effective pitcher, and today I saw a maturity in him that I had not previously seen.”

Jordan Bray worked a perfect seventh inning, striking out the side to close out the game.

PSC held a 1-0 lead into the fourth inning when the Catamounts exploded for seven runs highlighted by J.K. Fulauro’s three-run homerun. The inning began with back to back doubles from Virbickis and Ben Miller.

“J.K.’s homerun really gave us a lift and got us going. He had been struggling just a bit, but he really connected on that pitch. After that, we just seemed to keep rolling,” said Little.

Potomac State, 15-6, is now in the midst of a five-game home stand at Golden Park. On Wednesday, the Catamounts will host Hagerstown Community College for a nine-inning game at 2:00pm.

Thursday Potomac State faces off with West Virginia Wesleyan for a double header beginning at 1:00pm.

On Saturday, the Catamounts match up with Shenandoah University for a double dip at 1:00pm.
