Potomac State stings Hornets; sweeps twin bill

Potomac State's Zach Stolipher drove in three runs in the opening game of the Catamount's doubleheader sweep over Shenandoah

Winchester, VA- A late inning rally in game two propelled Potomac State to a doubleheader sweep over Shenandoah University on Wednesday evening.

Training 2-0 in the fifth inning, PSC tied the game at two on a two-run single from Joel Rosencrance. Then two innings later the Catamounts rallied for five runs en route to a 7-2 win.

With the score tied at two heading into the top of the final inning, Potomac State got RBI singles from Jake Potter, Steve Miele, Kyle Mann and T.J. Weisenburg to push five runs across the plate.

Potomac State won the opening game 12-6.

Mike Drye came on in relief and worked four scoreless innings to pick up the win. Drye allowed just two singles and struck out six Shenandoah hitters walking just one.

In the opening game Zach Stolipher slammed three doubles and drove in three runs to pace the Catamounts 12 hit attack. Weisenburg also added three hits with two runs batted.

Zach Markel hit a two-run home run in the third inning and added a double later in the game, driving in three runs.

Jordan Bray picked up the win as the sophomore went five innings and struck out nine. He allowed just one earned run and walked just one. Scott Fox worked the final two innings and struck out three.

Potomac State will be home for a single game on Friday with Genesee Community College at 2:00 p.m. The Catamounts will then host Sinclair Community College for a three game series. A 1:00 p.m. doubleheader is scheduled for Saturday and a noon single game on Sunday at Golden Park.
