Schedule changes for Potomac State’s opening weekend

Potential bad weather has the Potomac State Baseball opening weekend at the Pepsi Invitational baseball tournament a little off track this weekend, but the Catamounts are still looking to kick off the 2013 season.

“We are looking forward to playing this weekend,” said Potomac State Head Coach Doug Little. “Florence Darlington puts on a great tournament here and we are excited to play against some great teams in a very nice facility.”

Potomac State will be the only team in the tournament who has yet to play a game this season.

The Catamounts will play two games on Saturday night starting at 5:00 p.m. when they open up against Region XX foe Cecil College, (0-1) followed by a 7:30 start with Florence Darlington Tech.

The host team, Florence Darlington Tech started their season 3-0 but are 5-5 heading into the tournament, which is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at Francis Marion University’s Sparrow Stadium inside the Griffin Athletic Complex. The tournament also is set to resume at Sparrow Stadium next Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

On Sunday PSC will face off with Region X powerhouse USC Sumter, who are 7-2 thus far this season.
