Long ball helps Potomac State rally for split at Catonsville

Catonsville, MD- Potomac State hit three home runs for a 10-5 win to rally back for a split at Catonsville on Monday.

Elliott McCummings, Alex Levitan and Tre Porter all went deep for Potomac State as they improved to 28-12.

McCummings went 4-4 with three singles a home run and two runs batted in. He also added a sparkling catch in right field in the fourth inning.

Potomac State dropped the opening game 4-2 as Cardinal starter Wade Gies held the Catamount bats in check allowing just three hits in the complete game win.

Game two started just as bad for PSC as Catonsville plated four runs in the first inning off starting pitcher Scott Fox.

However, Potomac State rallied with a single run in the second, two in the third and one in the fourth to tie the game. The Catamounts blew the game open with six runs in the sixth inning.

The six-run inning was highlighted by a RBI single from Levitan, a two-run single from Jamaal Windom and Porter's blast that was a two-run shot.

Fox, who settled down after the shaky first inning, picked up the win to improve to 7-0 on the year. The sophomore went six innings and struck out three.

Levitan finished the game 2-2 with a single, home run, sacrifice fly and two runs driven in.

Potomac State now opens a five game home stand beginning on Thursday against Lackawanna College. The double header is slated for a 2:00 p.m. start. The stand continues over the weekend at Golden Park with a DH Saturday with Shenandoah University at noon and on Sunday for a key Region XX game with Hagerstown Community College at 2:00p.m.
