Keyser, WV- Tanner Everton threw a nine-inning complete game as Potomac State downed CCBC Catonsville 8-1 Thursday afternoon at Golden Park.

It marked the second straight day that PSC downed Catonsville, winning yesterday 13-4.

Everton, who hails from from Harpers Ferry, WV threw 8 2/3 of shut out baseball, allowing a run in the top half of the ninth inning.  The sophomore scattered seven hits, struck out three and walked two on just 105 pitches.  During one stretch, Everton retired six hitters on seven pitches, to even his record at 3-3.

“Tanner pitched quite a game,” said PSC Head Coach Doug Little.  “He really battles on the mound, knows how to pitch and had a solid game plan today.  He benefited from watching the Catonsville hitters yesterday.  He studied them, and pitched his plan today.”

Everton also benefitted from an error-free game from the Catamount defense.

David Kimbrough led Potomac State offense with three hits, as the Catamounts had six different hitters drive in a run.

Mike Eisel had a two-run double and Elliott McCumings, Scott Fox, Connar Bastaich, Zach Stolipher, and Alex Levitan each drove in a run for Potomac State.

“We faced some good arms the last two days,” said Little.  “Our guys did a good job, especially with two strikes today of putting the ball in play and putting some pressure on them.

Brandon O’Malley took the loss for Catonsville, despite striking out eight PSC hitters in 6 2/3 innings of work.

Kenny Linero drove in Catonsville lone run with an RBI single in the ninth inning.
