Catamounts pound out 35 hits in sweep over Cumberland County

Myrtle Beach, SC- Potomac State scored runs in bunches as the Catamounts swept a twin bill over Cumberland County College by scores of 21-11 and 11-0 Wednesday afternoon at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, SC.

In the opening game Tre Porter led the way with a home run, a double, two singles and four runs driven in.  Adam Meeker added four hits as well, including a home run, a double and two singles.  Meeker set a personal best with five runs driven in.

Billy Sager and Fraser Brown each added three hits.

Potomac State survived an eleven run inning from Cumberland County that was highlighted by RBI doubles from Robert Bunton and Jose Martinez.

Drew Hemminger worked the final three innings to pick up the win.  The freshman struck out five and walked one in three scoreless innings.

The Catamounts banged out a season high 24 hits as each starter had multiple hits.

In game two Kyle Elliott picked up his first win of the season as the freshman threw a complete game shutout.

Sager continued to swing a hot bat as he launched his first home run of the season in addition to a single driving in two runs.

Brown added a triple, single and two RBI’s. 

Daniel Kerwin, Connar Bastaich and Elliott McCummings each had two hits apiece for PSC.

Potomac State is back in action on Thursday with a single game with Danville Area Community College at 10am.
