Potomac State wraps up final day in Myrtle with two wins

Myrtle Beach, SC- Potomac State finished their spring break trip at the Ripken Experience with a pair of wins.

In the opener, Tre Porter belted his second home run of the season and Evan Mitchell struck out eight as PSC downed John Wood Community College 4-3.

Mitchell, making his first start of the season walked three and scattered eight hits to pick up the win. Josh McKown worked a scoreless seventh inning to pick up the save.

Porter racked up two RBIs on two hits for Potomac State Baseball. He singled in the first inning and homered in the third inning.

Elliott McCummings and Connar Bastiach added RBI’s for the Catamounts.

In game two Potomac State rallied from two runs down to defeat Lakeland Community College after six lead changes 5-3.

Potomac State finally managed to grab the lead after a strong sixth inning. An error scored Andrew Kowalo and gave PSC the lead for good.

It was a good day at the plate for Potomac State’s Bastaich. Bastaich went 3-4 and drove in one. He doubled in the fifth inning and singled in the third and sixth innings.

Kyler Brown recorded the win for Potomac State. He pitched one shutout inning. Brown struck out one, walked one and gave up one hit.  Connar Gorman made his first start of the season, going four innings while striking out five.

Kyle Tucker was charged with the loss for Lakeland. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out six, and allowed five runs.

PSC's lefthander Ryan Hedrick put away the final three outs to record his first save of the year.

Potomac State tied the game in the fourth on an RBI single by Kowalo that scored Adam Meeker.
