Miller’s effort keys Potomac State over Cecil 4-3

Florence, SC- Jamie Miller struck out six in five innings of work as Potomac State wrapped up the Pepsi Classic in Florence, SC with a 4-3 win over Cecil College.

Miller scattered seven hits to pick up the win.  The sophomore southpaw did not walk a batter to make his record 1-0 on the year.

Billy Sager’s two-out single that scored Jamaal Windom in the bottom of the fourth broke a 3-3 tie to give PSC the lead.

Brandon Cordell worked the final two innings to pick up the save. Cordell struck out two and did not allow a hit.

Potomac State jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the opening frame when Jamison Jones and Elliott McCummings were both hit with pitches and came around to score on an RBI single from Tre Porter and a sacrifice fly from Alex Levitan.

Cecil rallied back to tie the game at two led by a two run single from Todd Behrent.

Matt Armour hit a solo home run for Cecil.

Potomac State returns from back-to-back weekends in South Carolina with a 4-4 record.

PSC was scheduled to play at home on Wednesday for a 1PM twin bill with Garrett College, however those games have been canceled and may be made up later this season.

Potomac State is home this weekend for a three game series with Sinclair Community College at Golden Park.
