Sager lifts Potomac State to split with Mercyhurst NE

Keyser, WV Billy Sager clubbed two home runs to carry Potomac State to a 10-3 win over Mercyhurst NE in the second game of a doubleheader at Golden Park on Monday.

Potomac State dropped the opener by a score of 9-7.

In addition to Sager’s two home runs, Tre Porter added a home run of his own. Adam Meeker added three hits, (two doubles and a triple) as PSC outhit the Saints 13-3.

Dalton Westfall got it done on the mound on the way to the win. He allowed three runs over six innings. The freshman struck out five, walked four and gave up just three hits.  Drew Hemminger worked a perfect seventh top close out the game.

In game one, Potomac State squandered an early lead and allowed Mercyhurst NE to eight runs over the last three innings.

Porter led Potomac State with three hits and both Meeker and Andrew Kowalo added two hits.

Matt Maiers took the loss for Potomac State as he allowed six earned runs in2 1/3 innings of work. He walked one and struck out two to fall to 1-4 on the year.

Potomac State, now 17-9-1, will travel to Youngwood, PA on Wednesday for a 2:00p.m. twin bill with Westmoreland County Community College.
