Baseball: Potomac State drops pair to Sinclair

Sinclair Community College relied on timely hitting and strong sweep a doubleheader over Potomac State on Saturday at Golden Park by scores of 4-1 and 7-5.

In game one Eric Hansman’s RBI single in the top of the sixth inning gave Sinclair a 2-1 lead and the Tartan Pride added three more runs in the seventh for the win.

Sinclair starter Patrick Boyle went six innings and struck out six PSC hitters.  Nthan Helke came on in the seventh to pick up the save.  Drew Hemminger took the loss for Potomac State as he allowed four runs in 1 1/3 innings of work.

Connar Bastaich had two hits for Potomac State.

In game two Sinclair jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first and increased their lead in to 5-1 after two innings en route to a 7-5 win.

Potomac State had a chance to tie the game in the sixth, but left the bases loaded.

Matt Maiers took the loss for PSC as he allowed five runs in 1 1/3 innings.  Sinclair’s starter Carlos Pena picked up the win with five solid innings of work. 

The series concludes with a single game on Sunday at noon at Golden Park.
