Potomac State thumps Chesapeake 10-4; pushes win streak to twelve
Wye Mills, MD- Tre Porter drove in four runs and hit his seventh home run of the season leading Potomac State to a 10-4 win over Chesapeake College Monday afternoon.
Along with his home run, Porter added a double, a walk, a sacrifice fly and two runs scored to lift the Catamounts to their 31st win.
Jamison Jones also added a solo home run in the sixth inning.
Potomac State jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the top of the first aided by three Skipjack errors and back to back RBI singles from Adam Meeker and Alex Levitan.
Chesapeake answered back in the bottom of the first with three runs of their own highlighted by RBI singles from Dustin Jones and Zach Correa.
PSC starter Jamie Miler shook off the rough first inning and rebounded with seven consecutive innings of shutout baseball despite having no 1-2-3 innings. Miller finished the game giving up four runs, striking out six and walking a season-high eight hitters. With the win, his record improves to 6-1.
After allowing a run in the ninth, Miller was replaced by Dalton Westfall, who struck out the side to end the game.
Correa and Mitch Sutton both had two hits for the Skipjacks who fall to 21-18.
Potomac State out hit Chesapeake 9-6 and took advantage of five Skipjack errors.
PSC, now 31-10-1 and will play host to Monroe College on Saturday for a twin bill at Golden Park, beginning at 12:00pm.
