Strong pitching leads Potomac State to sweep over Catonsville
Catonsville, MD- Dalton Westfall delivered a complete game effort in the opening game as Potomac State swept a doubleheader sweep by scores of 8-1 and 9-2 over CCBC-Catonsville on Tuesday afternoon.
Westfall allowed just one run while striking out four and walking just one to raise his record to 3-2.

“Dalton was really good today,” said Potomac State Head Coach Doug Little. “He commanded the zone, worked ahead in the count and fielded his position really well.”
Westfall added six assists defensively including starting a 1-6-3 double play to end the sixth inning.
Elliott McCummings led PSC at the plate with two doubles, a single and two runs batted in. Connar Bastaich also added two RBI’s for the Catamounts.
In game two Matt Maiers delivered another strong starting pitching performance for Potomac State. The freshman went 5 2/3 innings, scattered five hits, strinking out two and allowing just two runs.
“Matt pitched well. He pitched the way we he is capable of pitching,” said Little. “Both he and Dalton have a high ceiling, they are getting better with each outing and I think they both can be as good as they want to be.”
Training 2-1 in the fifth, Potomac State exploded for seven runs highlighted by a two run single from Billy Sager and a run scoring single from McCummings.
Jamison Jones and Fraser Brown finished with two hits and Adam Meeker added a solo home run in the seventh inning.
Potomac State now stands at 21-10-1.
