Potomac State doubles up Chesapeake 16-8

Keyser, WV- Potomac State banged out seventeen hits to defeat Chesapeake College 16-8 at a windy Golden Park on Sunday afternoon.

Fraser Brown launched a long grand slam home run and Adam Meeker added three hits to pace the Catamount attack.

Evan Mitchell pitched 4 2/3 innings of solid relief to pick up the win and increase his record to 6-0. Mitchell struck out four and allowed just one run.

Chesapeake’s Scott Mitchell provided much of the Skipjack’s offense as the freshman hit two home runs and drove in four runs. Eric Enrico and Ausaf Hussain also hit home runs for Chesapeake, who fell to 27-21.

Chesapeake’s Stephen Seufert took the loss and drops to 2-2 on the season.

Billy Sager, Elliott McCummings and Coonnor Bastaich each added two hits for PSC and Brent Parrish added a two-run double.

Potomac State improves to 35-10-1 and has won 16 straight games.

With the win Potomac State has locked up the number one seed for the upcoming Region XX Tournament that begins on Friday.

The Catamounts will wrap up the regular season on Monday when they play host to Cecil College for a 1PM doubleheader.
