Catamounts split with Cecil; wins streak snapped at 17

Keyser, WV- Potomac State won the opener, but dropped the extra inning finale to Cecil College Monday afternoon at Golden Park.

In the opener, three different Catamount pitchers combined on 3-0 shutout win.  Kyler Brown, Drew Hemminger and Matt Maiers combined to strike out six, and allowed just six hits.

Jamison Jones, Connor Bastaich and Daniel Kerwin each had two hits for the Catamounts, who ran their win streak to seventeen games.

PSC outhit the Seahawks 11-6.

The nightcap was interrupted by a 45 minute rain delay, and a second 30 minute lightning delay before Cecil’s Izzack Albright’s three run double in the top of the eighth propelled Cecil to a 10-8 win.

Potomac State battled back to tie the game after Cecil had jumped out to a 2-2 lead after two innings.

Jones finished 3-3 for PSC, with an RBI, while Elliott McCummings drove in three runs on a pair of singles.   Billy Sager added two hits and Adam Meeker went 2-4, hitting his fourth home run of the season.

Potomac State wraps up the regular season at 36-11-1 and will next play on Friday in the 2014 Division 1 Region XX Tournament against Chesapeake College.  The tourney will be held at Harford Community College.
