Men's Basketball: Cecil claws past Catamounts

NORTH EAST, MD — Dante Adams scored 31 points and Stedman Allen added 21 for Cecil during a 99-83 win over Potomac State during the Cecil Holiday Tournament.

The Catamounts (4-3) entered halftime down three points at 47-44, but the Seahawks used the first 10 minutes of the second half to pull away and dig a hole too deep for PSC to climb out of.

Adams made four three pointers and made 9 of 12 at the foul line to reach 31 points. Besides Allen’s 31 points, Amadius Der-Weer added 15, Charles Burley 14 and Ryan McNair finished with 10.

The Cats got a 38-point performance from George Chase, which led all players. Chase made all eight of his foul shots and sank three three-pointers along the way. Reggie Baker helped by scoring 13 points and Breon Powell scored an even 10.

It is the third loss in the last four games for the Catamounts, who started the season 3-0.

Potomac State will finish up its involvement in the tournament this afternoon when it plays Prince George’s beginning at 1 p.m.
