Men’s Basketball: Catamounts win a pair at Garrett Tournament

MCHENRY, MD — Four Catamounts finished in double figures, led by Tyrell Edmiston’s 16 points, as Potomac State rolled to an 82-56 win over Clark State (Ohio) Saturday at the David K. Martin Legacy Tournament at Garrett College.

Potomac State got out to a 19-point lead (39-20) by halftime by leaning on Edmiston, Travis Brown, C.J. Franklin and Da-Lynn Davis. Brown scored 13 points, while Franklin added 11 and Davis finished with 10. Edmiston also led the team with eight rebounds.

The Eagles got a team-high 15 points from Blanton and nine from Bailey.

On Friday, the Catamounts opened the Martin Tournament with a 63-60 win over Niagara. Edmiston dropped a pair of free throws with 2.2 seconds left that clinched the victory as the Thunderwolves couldn’t get a final shot off. 

Franklin led the team in scoring with 22 points and Edmiston added 13. Travis finished with 10 points for the Cats, who led by as much as 18 at one time.

Mendez had 15 points for Niagara.

Now 4-0, Potomac State will play Dundalk at home on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
