KEYSER, W.V. — George Chase led four Potomac State College players in double figures and a defensive adjustment after halftime led the Catamounts over Garrett College 81-72 in a battle between ranked teams Wednesday evening.

The Catamounts entered the game 19th in the nation in Division II while the Lakers came in 16th after Wednesday’s rankings.

Chase finished with a game-high 19 points, hitting eight field goals including half of the Catamounts’ six three-pointers. Tyrell Edmiston added 15, hitting 12 field goals and making all three of his free throws. Daylin Davis and Zackery White each finished with 13.

Garrett was paced by De’Shae Lee’s 18 points coming off of five baskets including three three-pointers and making 5 of 6 from the line. Nemo Trexler added 11 and Malik Tunc had 10. Adam Wilkins, with three threes, finished with nine and Olamilekan added eight.

“Garrett shot the ball real well in the first half making 10 threes,” said Potomac State head coach Justin Anderson. “In the second half, we adjusted and got on their outside shooters and it worked, they only made two threes.”

Tied at 45 at halftime, the Catamounts made a run with about 13 minutes to play and took an eight-point lead and “We broke it from there,” Anderson said.

Potomac State (19-4) hosts Frederick on Saturday beginning at 3 p.m.
